Through the construction of flexible and modular urban objects, the project Ilot B32 makes possible the transformations of uses necessary for the construction of the city of the future.
B32 is not isolated, its logic belongs to a larger scale project that strengthens the link between the tertiary campus and the city. This spatial concentration of business allows a sharing of productive amenities, greater social interaction and knowledge accumulation within this new area Millennium Park.
The preference for compactness, far from being translated into a dense, blind and opaque mass, has led to the emergence of an immaterial, changing object, an architecture made of lightness, glazing and finely ground steel. We have combined the thermal requirements and a graphic work enriched by the architectural and urban characteristics of the building.
The continuous exterior façade, is the result of a large wooden frame which allows the radiancy of the large-scale building. As a wooden peristyle, this space borrows its language from monumental architectures, offers an expanded urban profile and a transition between the street and the workspace. Wood thus embodies the will to domesticate the workspace, a place of life and communications. Wandering around the building becomes an architectural and urban experience.
The definition of the envelope cannot be reduced to a simple decorative effect: the first skin, in addition to playing a thermal role by reducing the solar gain on the facades, interacts with different thicknesses (glass finesse and depth of spaces), various systems (facade and structure), different opacities.
